American alpine club - live your dream grant

In 2024, The Chip Hooper Foundation, once again, supported the American Alpine Club’s Live Your Dream Grant. The foundation chose to support this organization again because their goals of supporting people’s dreams in the mountains aligns with the Chip Hooper Foundation’s mission of helping people reach their goals. The American Alpine Club awards the Live Your Dream Grant to an individual each year to help them progress in their climbing abilities. “The Live Your Dream grant is designed to help every-day adventurers take their abilities to the next level. It is about personal progression. It is about supporting each other; getting out there to push our individual limits; taking our skills to the next proving grounds, wherever that may be. The purpose of this grant is to support and promote unforgettable experiences for climbers—to dream big, to grow, and to inspire others. The Live Your Dream grant is for individuals of all ages, all experience levels, and all climbing disciplines—from bouldering to big walls, alpinism to ski mountaineering, peak bagging to bolt clipping and everything in between” (https://americanalpineclub.org/live-your-dream-grant).

Girls Inc. works in partnership with schools across the nation and is dedicated to the development of the whole girl. Girls Inc. mission states:

She learns to value herself, take risks, and discover and develop her inherent strengths. The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and evidence-based programming equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers, and grow up healthyeducated, and independent. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities and rights for all girls.

The Chip Hooper Foundation hopes that their contribution will help Girls Inc. continue the amazing work they are doing and support even more girls as they develop into strong women.

Marina High School Booster's Club

In 2019, the Chip Hooper Foundation chose to support the Marina High School Booster’s Club. The donation will specifically be going to the basketball program. Chip’s son, Max, who is now on the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff, has been a basketball player his entire life and one of Max’s first basketball coaches is the head coach of Marina High School. Marina is a relatively new school, having been open just under 10 years. As a result, their facilities and equipment have lagged behind, prohibiting them from competing to the best of their abilities in basketball. They just opened their doors to their on campus basketball gym this season. Our donation will be going towards equipment that can help the players develop and improve their skills. Ultimately, we believe that this donation and partnership can make a significant impact and help the athletes in the Marina High School basketball program pursue their dreams with passion.

Shooting Touch uses basketball as its vehicle to enable people from disadvantaged communities to reach their full potential. Based in Boston, they conduct camps, clinics, and provide mentoring on and off the court. The organization also promotes physical health, wellness, and activity in these communities by getting youth onto the basketball courts to play. To date, 92% of participants in the program have improved their GPA through Shooting Touch’s “Gear up for Grades” tutoring program. Also, 71% of participants learned and instilled new healthy eating habits through nutrition and healthy cooking classes. Shooting Touch’s impact has been real and measurable and by partnering with them we hope to further that impact.
